Native plants cannot solve every landscaping and environmental problem, but they are powerful! The recent heavy rains and resulting floods provide incentive to explore how native plants can be part of the solution. Our extensive use of turf grass and impermeable surfaces in the typical suburban landscape have created conditions that contributed to the recent damaging floods. Join us as we explore rain gardens, bioswales, and other water control techniques that provide strategies for homeowners and communities to reduce the impact of future heavy rain events.
