Join Lake-to-Prairie Wild Ones and the Buffalo Grove Environmental Action Team as we celebrate the fifth anniversary of the Reiner Park Native Tree and Shrub Nursery. With more than 100 species of trees and shrubs, most of them native, the arboretum achieved Level 2 Arboretum Accreditation in just three years.
If you missed our Arboretum Tour and Planting Event last year, here is another opportunity for you to see this lovely little botanic collection of native trees and shrubs, as well as flowers, sedges and grasses. Jeff Weiss, Lake-to-Prairie Chapter board member and action team founder, will guide a tour of the collection and lead seed collecting from the arboretum and a prairie at the park.
Seeds will be processed and used at local sites that are being restored. Generous support from Lake-to-Prairie Wild Ones will be used to purchase additional shrubs for the arboretum.
